Welcome to The Hawks!

Hello Parents,

My name is Chris Celio and I am exciting to be coaching this team. Several of you I already know or kind of know and I am looking forward to meeting some new players and families as well. I am excited Kevin Schmidt was chosen as our Assistant Coach!

TEAM MEETING
For a team meeting, I'd like to keep things simple and plan a dinner at Skipolini's in Clayton this Sunday 8/5/18 at 600pm. Please let me know if you can make it or not.

VOLUNTEERS
The team does need every family to volunteer before we can pick up our uniforms, so even before that meeting, I'd like to recruit two referees, one team parent, and one field maintenance parent. We can't get our uniforms until we tell them who is going to fill each job, so what that means is all the good colors go to the teams that get their volunteers the fastest. So please let me know ASAP if you want to be:

a. Referee (we need two, so we can split the duty up so it can work around your schedule)

b. Team Parent: Manages the snack schedule, orders the banner and brings the banner to the games, schedules the team party, orders the medals, etc

c. Field Maintenance Parent: This is the parent that takes the lead on setting up and taking down the goals, checks the goals before each game, and manages a schedule of other families to help with this.

Field Maintenance Parent is a new suggestion from the league this year and I like it because setting up the goals always distracted me from warming the team up (don't worry, I'll do my share helping taking down goals if I don't have to set them up!). The Team Parent managing setting up the Banner is another great way for me to be able to focus on warming up the kids for the game (something I learned from a family on this team!)

So every family not coaching has to do one of those, so please let me know which you want, first come first serve. I need to know this ASAP so we can get first line to get the best uniform color!

TEAM SCHEDULING
I usually used TeamSnap to run the team schedule, but this year I'll be trying out Blue Sombrero since it's integrated into the MDSA Website for free now. Once we have a practice time and match schedule I'll be loading in there. I expect we'll be able to RSVP on there and also plan out snacks and goals set up on there to keep things all in one place.

PRACTICE
My preference for practice is Tuesday nights at 6:30pm. Please let me know as soon as you can if that time works for you. We will practice at Boatwright Field 6 (most likely but I'll let you know once we have a confirmed day and time) off of Pine Hollow in Concord, same place games are played. We will start practice next week, so on or around 8/7/18.

MEDICAL WAIVERS
In the past, on the old system, I could print out the medical waivers as the coach and then bring them for your signature. Blue Sombrero doesn't allow that for privacy reasons so you will need to print out your medical waiver THREE TIMES from the league site and bring all three forms to the Team Meeting or first practice you attend. Please bring three copies so that I can have a copy and so can the Assistant Coach and the Team Parent. This assures we'll always have a copy at practice and games. The medical waiver allows your child to get medical treatment even if you are not there and so it's required that we make sure to have it on us with original signatures. Without that form, your daughter won't be able to play.

So the things I need from your family are:
1. Other email addresses you would like to be included in this email thread (unlike InLeague, Blue Sombrero only gave us one contact email per child/family)
2. Can you and your family make the 8/5/18 6:00 pm team meeting at Skipolini's?
3. Can you make Tuesday at 6:30pm practices?
4. What volunteer role will your family take?
5. Three printed medical waivers found on the league site after you sign-in
6. Any questions?

See you all soon!
